I've Been Featured in a Podcast!

I am totally addicted to podcasts and think they are the best thing ever. You can learn so much about so many different, diverse subjects and the entertainment factor is out of this world!

Well, imagine my surprise when today, on my way to my new job, after a big home move, to be driving down the freeway catching up on my podcasts. I really like the "Pursuing Meaningful Work" podcast with Brent Green. He really does inspire me. I was listening to him and Howard Sheppard do their joint podcast from June 26th and they mention that they are going to give advice on sales for 2 people. Then they mention Kim Tyler from In Craft We Trust. OMG...that's me!! I screamed. I nearly crashed the car. I blushed...I get embarrassed easily, you know.

Anyway, those 2 guys were so cool and gave such great advice on my Etsy store. You will see changes coming soon. What a shock.

CD Sleeve Craziness

Well, it's been a while since I've blogged. A loooooooooong while, but I vow to make this a part of my life.

CD sleeves had been taking up my life for a while. I have so many new ones to sew with amazingly-great patterns. Seriously, there is something for everyone. If you're not familiar with my CD sleeves, they are hand sewn pieces of beautiful cardstock specifically designed to encase individual disks in a pretty way. They make great gifts, too. I did a big custom wedding order for a summer wedding and it was so much fun to do. I experimented with gold lurex thread and multiple layers, so it became tedious and time-consuming, but in the end, the bride was happy (that's all that matters).

I will be experimenting with more "sleeves" soon, some for your papers & corresponding CDs.

I am so glad learning to sew when I was 12 years old has become a useful thing.

I have been away from crafting, blogging and so many creative ventures for too long now. During my hiatus, I took up cupcake making which is a craft-unto-itself. I just love all the endless possibilities with cupcakes.

My Etsy store was reopened on Labor Day, but I still need to add new and different items to it. Currently, I am only selling selected pinback buttons and my CD sleeves. Sewn items will be coming soon.

I have vowed to start blogging more often and I have another blog in the works. A podcast is in the works. A children's book series is in development. 2010 is going to be a huge growth year for In Craft We Trust and for me personally!

December is the Show Season

The holidays are upon us and for those of us who sell our wares, it's show season. I am not sure how I will be able to balance work, my family holiday chores and my preparations for all of my upcoming shows, but I know I can (I always do).

Introducing...niceclutter

Lisa Arena of niceclutter creates "stuff enhanced with polymer clay". Her work is amazing and very intricate. After an extended crafting absence, she is back making the things she loves and making them better than ever! In her own words: "I've been making niceclutter for many years now. I've been an artsy-craftsy type of girl for my entire life. I love all things creative and am always in the process of doing multiple DIY projects - I can't just stick to one thing.

All of my pieces are made using uniquely designed millefiore-style tiles of polymer clay. The designs in the tiles are made by combining different colors of clay into a "sushi" type cane using a variety of techniques, all of which involve infinite patience and lots of tlc. The intricately detailed design can be seen in the cross section. I then slice the cane into tiles and arrange them in a patchwork pattern over the item being covered. To finish it off I roll it smooth and then fire it in the oven. The result is a crafty piece of art in vibrant colors with a smooth, matte finish. Water-resistant, color-safe, durable, and oh so pretty!

I am constantly creating new color schemes and will be continually adding to my wares. Each item I make is truly one-of-a-kind :)"

In Craft We Trust: The 1st Blog

I am new to this but am excited about blogging, too. I started In Craft We Trust in September 2005 as an outlet for my creativity. I have a creative job: I design clothing. However, I still like to craft and make my own things that are NOT for the mass market in my spare time. Honestly, I really have no spare time, so I take the time out of my sleep time, after my baby goes to sleep at night.

Everything I make is hand sewn or altered on basic blanks. I love garment dyeing and appliques. I make clothing, accessories, handbags/totebags, pinback buttons and button magnets, along with anything else that suits my fancy at the time. Most items are 1-of-a-kind or extremely limited editions.

Right now, I sell my items on Etsy at http://incraftwetrust.etsy.com. I will be on www.pinsandtomatoes.com soon. I also sell at craft shows occasionally, when time allows.
